Palestinian Authority TV (Fatah), May 2001, June 2007.
In this TV music video broadcast in May 2001 and again in June 2007, Palestinian kids are told to leave their toys and take up stones. The introductory text states that the song is dedicated to Muhammad Al-Dura who Palestinians believe was killed by Israelis during a shootout with Hamas on September 30, 2000.
The song includes lyrics that insist that ’the promise of peace’ and the ’time for talking’ are over and that the ‘stone’ of the country is in the ‘hands of a youth’ to confront the ‘enemy’. Children are shown abandoning their toys for stones and running off with them .
Text introducing song: “This song is dedicated to the Palestinian child Martyr Muhammad Al-Dura, who symbolized the courage of the Palestinian-Arab nation, its children, elders, and mothers. It demonstrates the hatred, cowardice, and oppression of the Zionist Israelis.”
Song: “The promise of peace is over. The time for talking is over. The stone of our country in the hands of a youth confronts you, my enemy. Defeat him, O stone! Defeat him!”
“I will meet you, Muhammad, Palestine’s child.”
