Zionist Organization of America News Release, July 6, 2000
Yasir Arafat’s Palestinian Authority has given the death
penalty to a Palestinian Arab who killed an Arab girl in a shootout between
rival criminal gangs. Yet Palestinian Arabs who kill Jews continue to be
rewarded with positions in the PA security and intelligence forces.
Morton A. Klein, National President of the Zionist Organization of
America (ZOA): “The PA severely punishes Palestinian Arabs who kill Arabs,
and rewards those who kill Jews. This sends a dangerous message to the
Palestinian Arab masses, encouraging them to regard the murder of Jews as
legitimate. How can anyone believe Arafat sincerely wants peace with
Israel when he engages in this sort of anti-peace behavior?”
In the latest development, Raji Fares Ibrahim Saker, 29, of the
PA-controlled town of Amari, was sentenced to death after confessing to
killing an Arab girl last week in a shootout that was part of a power
struggle over a local car-stealing business.
Yet Palestinian Arabs who murder Jews are often rewarded with
positions in PA agencies. At least six Palestinian Arab killers of
American Jews are serving in Arafat’s intelligence or security forces:
- Amin el-Hindi: Hindi is currently chief of the PA’s General
Intelligence Service. He helped plan the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre in
which David Berger, a member of the Israeli athletic team who was also an
American citizen, was murdered. (New York Times, October 14, 1993) -
Bassam Issa: The Israeli government has identified Issa as
having helped train the terrorists who carried out the February 25, 1996
Jerusalem bus bombing, in which three U.S. citizens were murdered–Jewish
Theological Seminary student Matthew Eisenfeld of Connecticut and Sara
Duker of New Jersey, who were planning to be married, and Ira Weinstein of
New York. According to the report, Issa is serving in the Palestinian
Preventive Security Forces. (On July 7, 1996, Israel asked the PA to
extradite Issa; the PA has ignored the request.) - Kamal Khalifa: He has been identified in an Israeli
intelligence report (Jerusalem Post, July 3, 1998) as having taken part in
the preparations for the above-mentioned bombing in which Eisenfeld, Duker,
and Weinstein were killed. According to the report, Khalifa is serving in
the Palestinian Preventive Security Forces. - Yasser Yusef Mustafa Khasin: He has been identified in an
Israeli intelligence report (Jerusalem Post, July 3, 1998) as having taken
part in the preparations for the above-mentioned bombing in which
Eisenfeld, Duker, and Weinstein were killed. According to the report,
Khasin is serving in the Palestinian Preventive Security Forces. - Nafez Sabih: According to the Israeli government, Sabih helped
plan the above-mentioned bombing in which Eisenfeld, Duker, and Weinstein
were killed. According to an Israeli government report, Sabih “currently
serves in the Palestinian security forces.” (On March 31, 1997, Israel
asked the PA to extradite Sabih; the PA has ignored the request.) - Mahmad Sanwar: He has been identified in an Israeli
intelligence report (Jerusalem Post, July 3, 1998) as having taken part in
the preparations for the above-mentioned bombing in which Eisenfeld, Duker,
and Weinstein were killed. According to the report, Sanwar is serving in
the Palestinian Preventive Security Forces.
