The official web site of Yasir Arafat’s Fatah faction of
the PLO is openly calling for Israel’s destruction, and the Zionist
Organization of America is urging the Clinton administration to take
action.
Fatah is the largest of the eight-member organizations of the
Palestine Liberation Organization. Arafat is chairman of both Fatah and the PLO.
ZOA National President Morton A. Klein said: “Arafat has lied to
Israel, the United States, and the entire world about his supposed interest
in peace with Israel.
By allowing the Fatah faction of which he is
head to openly and publicly calls for the destruction of Israel, Arafat
shows that he has never sincerely accepted the premise of the Oslo accords
to live in peace with the Jewish State. This shows that Arafat is not
interested in the Oslo formula of ‘land for peace,’ but just wants to
acquire land to use as a basis for further terrorism and war against
Israel. The Clinton administration should use its $100-million in annual
aid to the Palestinian Arabs to pressure Arafat to cease his horrifying
calls for Israel’s destruction.”
The Fatah web site, which is in English, features:
- An official Fatah emblem showing two arms clenching rifles, next
to a map of all of Israel as “Palestine.” - The official Fatah Constitution, which says (among other
things),that Fatah’s goal is “Complete liberation of Palestine, and
eradication of Zionist economic, political, military and cultural
existence” (Article 12);that “The Israeli existence in Palestine is a
Zionist invasion with a colonial expansive base” (Article 8);that “The Zionist movement is racial, colonial, and aggressive in ideology, goals,
organisation and method” (Article 7);that “Armed public revolution is the inevitable method to liberating Palestine.” (Article 17);
and that one of Fatah’s goals is “Convincing concerned countries in the world to
prevent Jewish immigration to Palestine as a method of solving the problem.” - A speech by Fatah Central Committee member Sakher Habash, in
which he said:
“ll resolutions which deny the Palestinians their right in their
homeland are false and completely rejected…To us, the refugees issue is
the winning card which means the end of the Israeli state. They have,
therefore, refused to solve it this way…The transitory solution of the
refugees issue in the future is through confederation with Jordan. I
visualize the future in establishing a democratic state by peaceful means.
This will come true when the Zionist illusion comes to an end, the thing
that has begun to occur in the Labor Party and Meretz.”(In commenting on the need to prevent Arab refugees from
permanently settling outside of Israel, Habash also revealed:“In 1962, I graduated as a geologist and water expert and I was sent to work at
Al-Azraq Groundwater Project founded by the UN. The project aimed to make
available spacious areas and enough water or the settling process. Some
engineers and I deliberately falsified the results in order to spoil the
project and eventually refugees could not settle there.”)
